- Hario V60
- Filter paper
- Coffee grinder
- Kettle (preferably with a gooseneck spout and temperature control)
- Server or carafe
Pours:
- Bloom: 50ml
- Second Pour: 100ml
- Third Pour: 100ml
Instructions:
Grind the Coffee Beans:
- Measure out 16g of freshly roasted coffee beans.
- Grind the beans to a medium consistency, similar to table salt.
Heat the Water:
- Bring 250ml of water to a temperature of 92°C.
- If you don’t have a thermometer, heat the water to a boil and let it sit uncovered for about 30-60 seconds to reach the desired temperature.
Prepare the Dripper:
- Place the filter paper in your pour-over dripper.
- Rinse the filter with hot water to eliminate any paper taste and preheat the dripper and server.
- Discard the rinse water.
Add Coffee Grounds:
- Place the dripper on your server or carafe.
- Add the ground coffee to the filter, ensuring an even bed of grounds.
First Pour (Bloom):
- Slowly pour 50ml of the heated water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion.
- Ensure all grounds are saturated.
- Allow the coffee to bloom for 30-45 seconds. This releases carbon dioxide and enhances flavor extraction.
Second Pour:
- After the bloom, pour 100ml of water in a steady, circular motion, maintaining an even saturation of the grounds.
- Pour until you reach a total of 150ml.
Third Pour:
- Finally, pour the remaining 100ml of water using the same slow, circular motion.
- Ensure all water passes through the coffee grounds for a balanced extraction.
Wait and Enjoy:
- Once all the water has filtered through, remove the dripper.
- Swirl the coffee in the server until it reaches the ideal drinking temperature.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, nuanced flavors of your perfectly brewed coffee!
Tips for the Best Cup:
- Freshness Matters: Use freshly roasted and ground coffee beans for optimal flavor.
- Consistent Pouring: Maintain a steady pouring speed to ensure even extraction.
- Clean Equipment: Always use clean equipment to avoid any unwanted flavors.
